The Head of Transition and Recovery International Organization for Migration and Representative of the Chief of Mission of the organization, Dr Fernando Medina has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai at the Headquarters Command and Control Centre in Maiduguri.
Head of the delegation, Fernando commended the Nigerian Army for the untiring efforts and commitment to end insurgency and the successes achieved so far in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast.
He further briefed the COAS on his organization’s readiness to support and partner with the Nigerian Army to end the almost defeated conflict through collaboration/provision of technical support at organizational, communities and individuals levels.
The organisation also promised to contribute to peace building process, intervention, reintegration and community reconstruction spearheaded by the Nigerian Army/ Federal Government.
Reacting to the gesture, the COAS, Lieutenant General TY Buratai thanked the organization for the visit while appreciating the President and the group’s efforts towards strengthening peace and security in the world, particularly in Nigeria.
A statement by the Acting Army Spokesman, Col Sagir Musa said the Army Chief further expressed readiness to provide the needed support for the organization to effectively carry out its plans in the North East Zone.
The visit was witnessed by the Chief of Logistics Army Major General Enabong Udoh, the Command Theatre Command Major General Benson Akinroluyo, Director Military Intelligence Major General SA Adebayo, Commander Special Forces Major General MG Ali and the Acting Provost Marshal Nigerian Army Brigadier General H Ahmed.
