The Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu yesterday said former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has been granted a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Christian Theology.
The university said the former president was the first candidate to be offered a PhD degree by the senate of the university.
Professor Adamu made the remarks at media briefing on the university’s 7th Convocation Ceremony, which would take place on 20th January.
He said the university would graduate 14,771 students including Obasanjo.
Two of the candidates were prisoners, while others were excluded from the list over unresolved academic problems.
Professor Adamu said the university would offer Obasanjo the post of a facilitator or a supervisor.
He said the university would establish overseas study centres in West African countries, starting with one in Niamey, Niger Republic.
