Police men arresting an offender

In what can be described as a comic tale, the police in Osogbo, Osun state  yesterday nabbed and charged two Nigerian men to court for allegedly stealing six chickens worth N9,600.

According to the prosecutor, the accused persons, a 65-year-old man, Adegoke Atanda and one Obe Adegbola, 50, stole the chicken from a poultry farm belonging to Senator Olu Alabi, who represented Osun Central Senatorial District at the Senate between 1991 and 1992.

The prosecutor briefed the court that the offence contravened sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State 2003.

However, the hungry duo pleaded not guilty to the two counts and prayed  for summary trial. In defense, their counsel, Mr. Okobe Najite, made an oral application seeking for their bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Fatimoh Sodamade granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 each with one surety paying same sum. The case was adjourned till March 1, 2018 for further hearing.
