The National Universities Commission, NUC, which is charged with the mandate of accrediting academic programmes in Nigerian universities, has approved of all the programmes run by the University of Calabar, UNICAL.

According to letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of UNICAL and signed on behalf of NUC’s Executive Secretary by the Director of Accreditation, Dr. N. B. Saliu, this development came as the outcome of an accreditation exercise organised for the university in November/December 2017.

Of all the 22 academic programmes in the University of Calabar visited by the NUC, 17 of them including Law got full accreditation while five were accorded interim status billed to last two years.

TheNigerian obtained a copy of the letter marked NUC/ES/412/VOL.11/397, which explained that the full accreditation status given to 17 of the programmes is valid for five years. Further detail can be found in the letter published below…
