The Committee of Youth Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) has described the Member representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State as the best candidate for the position of Deputy Speaker.
Mr Obinna Nwaka, Director General of CYMS, stated this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
Nwaka stated that it was necessary to drum up support for Kalu as members of the National Assembly’s lower chamber vie for leadership of the 10th Assembly.
He described his nomination and party endorsement as a welcome development and thanked President-Elect Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Sen. Kashim Shettima, for their support.

He emphasized that Nigerians would benefit from a transparent legislative process with Kalu as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
“There will also be swift intervention to national issues and good synergy between the Executive arm of government and the Senate,” he added.
Nwaka urged other lawmakers from the country’s south to back Kalu’s nomination for equity and fairness.
He went on to say that Imo had produced a Deputy Speaker during the PDP regime, and that having an Abia lawmaker serve as Deputy Speaker for the 10th National Assembly would not be a bad idea.
Nwaka, an APC Member of the Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 general elections, urged Members-elect from all parties to support and ensure Kalu’s election as Deputy Speaker.
He stated that Kalu would aid the Federal Government, particularly the Tinubu and Shettima administration, in stabilizing the National Assembly.

“He will also assist in addressing the restiveness, unrest, and tension in the South East, which requires a political solution,” he said.
