As Niger State government inaugurated a 13-member committee to distribute N50 million relief package to families of victims of the collapsed mining pit in the state, four more bodies of the miners in the Galadima Kogo pit have been recovered two months after the incident.

The recovery of the dead bodies was carried out through community efforts and engagement of 40 men from other mining sites to carry out a more intense excavation at the scene of the incident.

LEADERSHIP reports that the mine site collapsed over two months ago, and since then, excavation has been on with 30 people reportedly buried under the pit since June 3.

The District Head of Galadima-Kogo, Mallam Umar Aliyu, confirmed to journalists on Thursday that four more bodies were recovered through intense excavation that involved combined efforts of search workers at the site.
