Rema equals Fireboy’s record with his latest achievement
Nigerian self-styled afrorave singer, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has equalled the record of his industry rival, Fireboy in the United States with his latest achievement.
The Edo-born singer’s summer hit ‘Calm Down’ debuted on the premier American singles chart, Billboard Hot 100, equalising Fireboy’s ‘Peru’ with Ed Sheeran which cracked the chart last year.
Rema achieved the milestone following the release of a remix of the song with American singer and actress, Selena Gomez.
The song finally debuted at 91 on the Billboard Hot, after months of charting across Europe.
The ‘Dumebi’ crooner now joins Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Ckay, and Fireboy as the only Nigerian artists to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
