Cristiano Ronaldo finally opened his goal account this season in Manchester United’s 2-nil win over Sheriff Tiraspol, on Thursday.
The Portuguese got the chance to return to the scoresheet when Manchester United awarded a penalty after Kpozo fouled Dalot inside the box at Zimbru stadium, Chisinau city, Moldova.
His superb 39th-minute spot kick extended United’s lead as the Red Devils already took the lead earlier through Jadon Sancho.
The goal is also Ronaldo’s first-ever Europa League goal.
The hosts staged a disciplined-defensive play in the second half to prevent the English giants from adding more goals.
In the other Thursday’s Europa League fixtures, Qarabag FK thrashed FC Nantes 3-0; Ferencvarosi beat Monaco 1-0; SC Freiburg pummeled Olympiacos 3-0; Midtjylland trounced Lazio 5-1; Real Sociedad pipped Omonia 2-1, and Feyenoord Rotterdam demolished Sturm Graz 6-0.
