Police arrest three notorious armed robbers in Katsina

The police in Katsina have arrested three members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate terrorising Daura local government area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday.

He identified the suspects as “Abdullahi Sa’idu, ‘M’, aged 50yrs of Hadejia of Jigawa State; Umar Abubakar Faruk, ‘M’, aged 23yrs of Badawa Quarters of Kano State, and Zakariyya Hussaini, ‘M’, aged 25yrs, of Yar Leman, Hadejia of Jigawa State”.

According to him, they were arrested on September 12, 2022, at about 1600hrs following credible information.

Isah said the suspects were caught after they robbed Idris Ahmed, alias Baban Hajiya; Mujihabi Yusif; Sa’a Abdu; Ibrahim Sani, and Umar Sani of their belongings.

“In the course of police investigation and interrogation, the suspects confessed to having been using criminal charms that will make the households fall asleep until they finish committing their nefarious acts,” the police spokesman said.

Isha said the suspects have confessed that they got the charms from a ritualist in the Niger Republic.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include assorted fabricated keys, housebreaking implements, one machete, five different handsets, one iron pinches as well as some criminal charms,” Isah added.
