We’ll continue to protect lives and property – NSCDC
The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to protect the lives and properties of the people.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mohammad Bello Muazu, stated this when the state officials of the National Human Rights Commission Zamfara State chapter paid him a courtesy visit in the State Command Gusau, while also assuring that the personnel of the Corps will maintain discipline and neutrality during the period of electioneering as a build-up towards the 2023 elections.
Muazu maintained that officers and men of the Corps are professionally groomed to ensure the protection of lives and properties, critical infrastructure and national assets, adding that the Corps will do everything possible to ensure a smooth 2023 electioneering period.
The Commandant stressed that the confidence which the general public had placed on the Corps over the years will be maintained, sustained and strengthened.
According to him, the NSCDC is determined to close ranks with other sister agencies to forestall any form of insecurity that could prevent electorates from participating in the exercise of their civic obligations as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He further assured that, under his watch, the Corps will act in line with the visions and missions of the Commandant General, Audi Ahmed Abubakar, such as to repositioning, rejuvenating, restructuring, and reinvigorating the Corps in line with international best practices.
Muazu also promised to collaborate and synergize with the Zamfara State Human Rights Commission to effectively sanitize the electoral processes in line with the extant laws of the Federation.
On his part, the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Abdullahi Abubakar, commended the Corps, particularly Muazu for the partnership and collaboration enjoyed so far.
While noting that Muazu has demonstrated his level of professionalism and leadership prowess, Abubakar appealed for more synergy and understanding in handling electoral matters, especially as the electioneering activities which are build-ups to the 2023 General Elections, draw closer.
