2023: Atiku vows to privatise refineries
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to to privatise crude oil refining if elected president.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the former Vice President revealed that his government would work to make Nigeria the hub for crude oil refining in the continent.
“I’m going to privatise our crude oil refineries and make Nigeria the hub of crude oil refining in Africa,” he tweeted.
Atiku has long pushed for privatising the state-owned oil company and other industries, including the electricity industry and refineries.
In August, he stated that the NNPC should be privatised to improve the oil business, adding that it is not the government’s responsibility to take over the management of the oil and gas industry.
