N112.1bn spent on disaster management 11yrs – NEMA

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has revealed that a total of N112.1billion was spent on disaster management in the last 11 years.

Ahmed disclosed this on Wednesday in his presentation before the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the accruals and utilisation of the Ecological Fund.

According to him, the agency received the sum of N110.4billion within the same period.

The NEMA boss revealed that “Details of  2010 documents could not be found as they were vandalized during the ENDSARS protests.”

He added “A police extract to that effect has been obtained and is hereby attached.”
