Ronaldo-less Portugal thrash Nigeria 4-0
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes bagged a first-half brace as the Super Eagles of Nigeria fell to a 4-0 defeat to Portugal in an international exhibition game on Thursday night.
Two goals on either side of the half saw La Selecao who were without their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo hand Nigeria their fifth consecutive non-competitive defeat.
Fernandes opened the scoring for the Portuguese with barely nine minutes into the game at Estádio José Alvalade, before completing his brace from the spot 16 minutes later.
Nigeria got the chance to pull one back from the spot in the second half but Nottingham Forest forward, Emmanuel Dennis missed the penalty.
Moments later, Gonçalo Ramos extended Portugal’s lead with yet another goal in the 82nd minute.
João Mário made it 4-0 two minutes later to wrap up the scoring for the World Cup-bound European side.
Super Eagles have now lost all their Friendly games under coach Jose Peseiro.
