The Federal Government has announced that the Abuja-Kaduna train service will resume operation in two weeks’ time.

The minister of transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, who announced this on Thursday in Ibadan, at the Railway station in Moniya, during his first inspection visit to the 157-km Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway, assured of the safety of railway passengers across the country, as well as security on board the train.

Sambo, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Transport, Ademola Adegoroye, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, and other officials of the ministry, assured that the federal government would improve security on the railway corridors.

The minister said “It is not necessary for me to share that date publicly, I don’t think that will help in running the service.”

He added “Nigerians are interested in the service, in less than two weeks, before the month is over, so just be patient.”
