APC accuses Rivers govt of stifling businesses

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Rivers State Government of stifling businesses following an injunction restraining Spar Market from going ahead with its scheduled Black Friday sales.

The state APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, who made the accusation this in Port Harcourt, condemned the move by the government to shut any business, especially when no offence was committed.

Nwauju alleged that the Governor Nyesom Wike-led government had failed in the area of job creation and so, should not clamp down on businesses.

While noting that the government’s action was to give an undue advantage to a new outlet with the same offerings, he urged the Consumer Protection Council to rise to the occasion.
