World Cup: Messi’s doctor wishes for Argentina to lose all group matches
Diego Schwarzstein, the personal physician of Argentine prodigy, Lionel Messi, said he wishes for his client and Argentina to lose all of their matches in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Schwarzstein who also hails from Argentina stated that if the South American country wins the Mundial, the government would use it as propaganda to cover up for its failures.
“As a football fan, I would like Argentina to be champions. As an Argentine citizen, as a human being, I would like them to lose all three games and be eliminated in the first round,” he told The Times.
“Why, I’m convinced that this obscenely populist government that we have here would use the success of Argentina at the World Cup to cover things up.”
Messi, despite being regarded as arguably the best footballer of all time, is yet to win the World Cup. The Qatar 2022 tournament might be his last shot, and many analysts think that winning the World Cup would cement his status as the Greatest Footballer of All Time.
Argentina will begin its World Cup campaign against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Messi is expected to captain the team.
