W’Cup: Lewandowski misses penalty as Mexico hold Poland to goalless draw

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski missed a spot kick as his country, Poland played a goalless draw against Mexico in their Group C opener at the ongoing ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, on Tuesday.

Poland were outplayed by Mexico in the game staged at Stadium 974, Rass Abou Aboud city.

Despite Mexico being the better side, Poland got an opportunity to snatch the lead in the 56th minute when Hector Moreno pulled down Lewandowski in the box, but the Polish captain’s shoot was saved by the Mexican keeper, Guillermo Ochoa.

The draw left Saudi Arabia top of Group C with three points after they came from behind to beat Argentina 2-1 earlier on Tuesday in one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history.
