World Cup: Australia edge Tunisia 1-0
Australia pipped Tunisia 1-0 in their second Group D game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, on Saturday.
Mitchell Duke’s first-half header was the difference the two heavyweights locked horns in a make or mar battle at the Al Janoub Stadium. A poor first-half performance cost the North Africans greatly. Australia was the better side in the first 45 minutes and were duly rewarded with their third-ever victory in World Cup history.
Australia came into the game from an opener defeat to France, while Tunisia came in from a hard-fought draw against favorites, Denmark.
Tunisia must beat defending champions, France in their last group match to progress to the knockout stages.
