W’Cup: Mbappe fires France into quarter-finals as Poland crash out
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé scored twice to help France book a place in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
The Les Bleus defeated Poland 3-1 on Sunday to keep their hope of defending the title they won four years ago alive.
Olivier Giroud put France in front just before the halftime mark.
Mbappe doubled the French’s lead in the 74th minute, before completing his brace in the 90th minute.
Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for Poland from the spot nine minutes later.
The final whistle has French fans bouncing inside Al Thumama Stadium as their side cruised to the second consecutive World Cup quarter-final.
Mbappe is leading the race for the Golden Boot of the tournament. The Frenchman has five goals so far.
