World Cup: Croatia stun Brazil in penalty shootout to reach semifinals
Croatia are through to a second consecutive World Cup semi-final after shocking Brazil in Friday’s quarterfinals clash.
The 2018 World Cup runners-up defeated the five-time world champions via a penalty shootout at the Education City Stadium.
The game went into penalties after regulation and extra time ended in a stalemate. It was still goalless after regulation time but Neymar put Brazil in front in the 105+1st minute.
However, Bruno Petković leveled for Croatia in the Petković 116th, forcing the game into penalties which the Europeans won 4-2.
