Morocco stun Portugal to clinch first-ever African World Cup semi-finals
The Atlas Lions of Morocco have made history as the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals!
The North Africans achieved the feat after stunning Portugal 1-0 in Saturday’s quarterfinal clash.
The Atlas Lions stunned former world champions via penalties in the round of 16 to secure a historic quarterfinal where they shocked another European giants, Portugal.
Youssef En-Nesyri scored the winning goal for the Atlas Lions in the 42nd minute to secure the first-ever African World Cup semi-final slot. His goal had Moroccan fans bouncing in the Al Thumama Stadium.
Morocco were reduced to 10-man in the extra time after Walid Cheddira was sent off.
