Tems makes history as first Nigerian to bag Golden Globe nomination

Gifted Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has again made history as the first Nigeria-based artist to snag a Golden Globe nomination.

The ‘Essence’ crooner who has been on a musical achievement spree bagged a Golden Globe nomination for her song in Blank Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Tems was nominated for her songwriting efforts of Lift Me Up, a track from Marvel Studios’ movie, Wakanda Forever. The Nigerian star was nominated in the Best Original Song, Motion Picture Category alongside Rihanna, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goransson.

They will contest the highly coveted category with Taylor Swift; Lady Gaga, BloodPop, Benjamin Rice; Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj.

Tems earlier bagged three Grammy nominations for her collaborations with American music stars, Beyonce and Future.
