The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has revealed the name of the police officer who shot and killed a female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, on Christmas day in Lagos.

A statement on Tuesday by the NBA Publicity Secretary, Habeeb Lawal, disclosed that the body of lawyers now has the name of the alleged culprit.

Lawal said, “The NBA is able to report that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the suspected murderer of our member is one ASP Drambi Vandi”.

He further revealed that the officer has been in service for 33 years.

Recall that on Monday, many Nigerians condemned the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Police Command for being silent on the shooter’s name wondered why the security agency concealed such important information.

The NBA’s disclosure has now put Vandi’s name out as expected in a case that could be prosecuted as first-degree murder.

Bolanle and her husband were said to be returning from an outing on Christmas Day when they were flagged down near Ajah bridge.

The police team that stopped them reportedly followed their car, after which Vandi opened fire for a reason yet to ascertained.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Tiannah Place Empire, Toyin Lawani, in a video she posted online, described the deceased as a peaceful person.

According to her, “The police told them to park. There was a car in front of them, so they were about to park, and he shot her in the chest.”

“She went to get pizza for Christmas; she was shot in front of her daughter. Bolanle died on the spot; she was pregnant.”

“Nigeria Police, when are you going to stop giving these drunkards uniform. These people on the road disturb everybody’s peace for no reason”.
