11 killed as bus collides with truck in Niger

Eleven people have been confirmed dead in Niger state after a trailer collided with a bus returning from Lagos along the Mokwa-Makera road in Mokwa local government area about 3:30 am on Tuesday.

The Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number FST 325 YE, heading to Kaduna, was said to have had a head collision with a Volvo Truck with registration number EKY 869 XE, which was conveying cattle from Kudu to Mokwa.

The Nigerian News gathered that nine people were confirmed dead on the spot while two others who were rushed to the Mokwa General Hospital died on Tuesday afternoon.

About 22 people, comprising 18 males, 4 female and 2 children were involved in the accident which was caused by over speeding and fatigue.

About 10 people were injured while 11others including seven males, two females, and two children died.

Meanwhile, the driver of the trailer was reportedly nowhere to be as he was said to have fled the scene immediately.
