Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has charged residents of communities that were recently attacked in Alkaleri Local Government Area to rise, take up arms and defend themselves against the bandits.

The governor, who gave the charge on Thursday at the Palace of the District Head of Yelwan Duguri, Adamu Mohammed Duguri during his visit to Rimi village, Gwana and Yalwan Duguri to commiserate with the victims attacked by the bandits, said the situation was an “unacceptable trend” that must be stopped at all costs.

Governor Mohammed said, “You are known to be men, you should not allow these bad elements to subdue you, defend your land and liberate yourselves. You should rise, take up arms and defend yourselves”.

The governor further urged the people to fish out “the bad eggs” collaborating with the bandits, especially those serving as informants, adding that the criminals cannot operate without insiders.

In his remarks, the District Head of Yelwa Duguri, Adamu Mohammed Duguri, noted that 20 people were killed in Rimi village during the attacks but attempts to attack Kafin Duguri failed as the villagers rose to defend the village.
