Lagos-based socialite and businessman, Emeka Okonkwo aka E-Money has revealed that he is going to honour his N50m pledge to social media comedian, Carter Efe.
This followed Carter Efe’s unanimous decision victory over street-hop artiste Habeeb Badmus, aka Portable, at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event, held at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday night.
The pledge was reaffirmed when the Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group Promotions, Ezekiel Adamu, asked E-Money about it at the end of the event.
The businessman congratulated Carter Efe on his victory and said he would fulfill the promise.
“You know we put our money where our mouth is, and so congratulations Carter on your win. “You, ₦50 million.
Adamu for his part said the event lived up to expectations.
“We promised Chaos in the Ring and we have delivered very entertaining fights tonight,” he said. “Thanks everyone that made this a success and to the fighters for the great display. More to come.
The fight between Carter Efe and Portable on Friday came after weeks of verbal exchanges between the two entertainers.
Portable is now entering the competition, having won two belts in celebrity boxing matches against Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington prior to this.
He had bragged before the fight that Carter Efe would help him win a third belt.
Portable stated, “I will use you to get my third belt. “Speed Darlington was bigger than you. Charles Okocha was bigger than you and I beat them. Now I’ll beat you.
However, Carter Efe said, “One punch and you’re down.”
As the fight started, Portable threw wild punches but Carter Efe used his height and reach to control the contest.
In rounds two and three, Portable kept swinging wide and clinching, while Carter Efe landed cleaner combos.
All three judges scored the bout 27-30, giving Carter Efe the unanimous decision victory and the celebrity boxing crown.
