2027: Atiku Holds Meeting with Former Sokoto Governor Bafarawa

On Sunday night, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar visited former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa at his home in Abuja as a courtesy.
According to reports, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential contender posted a few information about the encounter on his official 𝕏 handle on Monday morning.

“I paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Attahiru Bafarawa, the former governor of Sokoto State, at his residence in Abuja yesterday evening,” Atiku wrote. I’m glad I was able to meet him in such a kind manner and have fruitful conversations with him.

Strategic Actions Before 2027
According to reports, the former vice president, who served as the PDP presidential flagbearer in the 2019 and 2023 elections, has stepped up consultations with political allies and stakeholders nationwide in recent months as the country gets ready for the general elections in 2027. Atiku did not specify whether his recent meeting with Bafarawa was about politics.

In addition to hosting important PDP leaders in Abuja, Atiku recently met separately with prominent northern politicians, such as former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and a few PDP Board of Trustees members.

In his discussions with political organizations in the South-West and South-East, he also emphasized the necessity of a cohesive opposition that can effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Atiku has repeatedly urged both wider coalitions and internal party unity, cautioning that a dispersed opposition would simply make the APC’s hold on power stronger.
