Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, has warned former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against seeking the presidency in 2027.
According to Baba-Ahmed, Atiku need to back a younger presidential candidate in 2027 and act as a father figure to them.
During his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday evening, he gave the advice.
According to Baba-Ahmed, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, will be taken to the “cleaners” by a younger Atiku presidential candidate.
“If I have the opportunity to sit with Atiku, I would tell him: Sir, you have done your share, you have supported the democratic process, you have done a good job representing it, your name is inscribed in gold, it’s time to give up the seat to someone younger; don’t run in 2027, and act like a father.”

“Find a young, decent person. They will take APC to the cleaners if he fields a younger, more capable individual with less skeletons in their closet and fewer liabilities in terms of age, health, and everything else.
He maintained that the wrong people are joining the ruling party as it expands.
The majority of those switching to the APC, according to Baba-Ahmed, are either seeking jobs or escaping the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“APC is expanding with the wrong people; all of these defections are directed towards the same goal: they are fleeing the EFCC or seeking employment.
He went on to say, “The people barging into the APC from everywhere are a liability; it’s just a refugee camp that will blow up.”
