2027: Tinubu Unbeatable Without United Opposition – Ex-Presidential Candidate

According to former presidential candidate Martin Onovo, without a solid alliance, it would be extremely difficult for any one opposition party to beat President Bola Tinubu in the general elections of 2027.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday, Onovo, who was a presidential candidate in 2015 under the now-defunct National Conscience Party, stated as much.
“A united front — a powerful coalition of opposition forces is the only way to defeat the All Progressives Congress in 2027,” he said.

Onovo called the current coalition efforts led by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and PDP presidential candidate, a positive step and threw his weight behind them.

“I was the driving force behind the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), the biggest coalition in the Fourth Republic’s history. The only option is to form a coalition. He asserted that a united minority is more powerful than a divided majority.

He said he was confident that the APC might lose badly at the polls if they formed a well-organized alliance.

“If the coalition does not undermine itself, it will win the 2027 election with 99 percent of the vote,” Onovo stated. Take it to the bank; if they do it correctly, it will be successful and defeat the ruling party with convincing ease.

Onovo gave the Tinubu-led government a dismal midterm performance rating, mainly for security and the provision of basic amenities.

He pointed out that “not much has been accomplished in terms of addressing insecurity or improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.”

He urged the President to use the rest of his tenure to take decisive action and suggested that he focused on the fundamental needs of Nigerians.

Onovo emphasized that capable individuals, not political allegiances, should be in charge of governance.

“We need capable individuals in leadership roles, not partisans. As the President assumes responsibility and leads, let’s have the appropriate personnel, the correct plans, and a moral atmosphere.

“To put an end to the suffering, we need the appropriate commanders with sound economic and security plans. “Loyalty must not come at the expense of performance,” he continued.

As the primary reasons of Nigeria’s insecurity and social discontent, he added asked the President to step up efforts to combat corruption and implement significant measures to lower wealth inequality.
