The Super Eagles have arrived in Garoua, Cameroon for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian squad left Abuja on a chartered Air Peace plane around 8pm on Wednesday night and arrived in the northern Cameroonian city a few minutes past 11pm.
Super Eagles media officer Femi Raji confirmed the squad’s arrival in Garoua a few minutes to midnight on Wednesday night.
The squad to Garoua was made up of 25 players and the technical crew led by interim head coach Austin Eguavoen.
The players on the trip included goalkeepers John Noble, Maduka Okoye, Daniel Akpeyi and Francis Uzoho as well as defenders Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Zaidu Sanusi, Chidozie Awaziem and Semi Ajayi.
Midfielders Joe Aribo, Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, and forwards Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Peter Olayinka are also in Garoua with the squad.
Only three players from the 28-man squad did not travel from Abuja to Garoua.
They are Jamilu Collins and Tyrone Ebuehi, who will both join the rest of the team in Garoua, and Odion Ighalo who is being held back by his Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to battle Egypt on Tuesday in their opening group match of the tournament before taking on Guinea Bissau and Sudan in Group D.
