According to the News Agency of Nigeria, a Toyota Sienna automobile crashed into a river along the Sagamu-Benin motorway on Saturday, killing three people.

The event was confirmed by Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) public education officer in Ogun.
Okpe identified the fatalities as three adult males, while another individual was injured.

Her exact words:

“The crash happened around 11:55 a.m., and the suspected cause was excessive speed and loss of control, which caused the vehicle to plunge into the river.”

“The vehicle bearing the registration number APP 830 HX was travelling from Benin to Lagos.”

According to the FRSC spokeswoman, the injured victim was brought to Hope Clinic J4 in the state’s Ijebu-East local government area.

“Bodies of those who died were deposited at the mortuary of the State General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode,” she stated.

According to Okpe, the state sector commander of the FRSC, Anthony Uga, speed limit violations by motorists, particularly commercial vehicle drivers, are the major cause of road accidents.

“However, in this case, the FRSC sector commander praised the efforts of local divers in the rescue operation.”

“We also sympathise with the victims’ families and urge them to contact the FRSC Ogbere outpost for more information about the crash,” she added.
