The Benue State All Progressives Congresses, APC, has distanced itself from the conduct of purported ward and local government congresses of the party in the state.
The APC said the attention of the party under the leadership of Austin Agada was drawn to reports of purported Ward and Local Government Congresses allegedly conducted by some unknown persons in some Local Government Areas of Benue State.
This was contained in statement on Monday by the state publicity secretary of the party, Mr.Daniel Ihomun.
He said the State Leadership of the party has not authorized any Local Government Chapter to conduct Congresses at this time.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all official party activities, including the conduct of Congresses, are strictly directed and supervised by the National Secretariat of our great party.
“Any exercise carried out outside this established framework is illegal, null, and void and will not be recognized by the party.
“The APC remains a disciplined and law-abiding party that operates within the provisions of its Constitution and established guidelines.”
Mr. Ihomun warned all members of the party in all Local Governments across the state to desist from participating in the alleged charade being orchestrated by certain individuals with selfish interests.
He added that any member found engaging in or promoting the illegitimate process risks serious disciplinary actions, including suspension or expulsion from the party.
“We urge all party faithful in Benue State to remain calm and await official communication from the National Secretariat regarding legitimate party Congresses.
“The APC is committed to due process and ensuring that all exercises conducted within the party adhere to the principles of transparency, fairness, and legality.
“For further clarification, members should refer to official communications from the Party and disregard any unauthorized directives from any other quarters.”He said.
