Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is still the only Nigerian politician who can challenge President Bola Tinubu, according to veteran journalist and former PDP presidential candidate Dele Momodu.

According to Momodu, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, and other politicians lack the guts to challenge Tinubu.
Additionally, he foresaw that the president would eventually desert Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, after he had fulfilled his political mandate.
“Atiku is the only one today who is not afraid of Tinubu,” Momodu said on The Honest Bunch podcast. No one else, not even Mr. Peter Obi, whom Atiku [in 2019] used, can confront him.
“Wike, I have no doubts that they [the presidency] will use him and dump him,” he added.
“Yes, he helped me in the past, but I have also done a lot for him before,” Momodu said when asked why he does not support President Tinubu despite their previous friendship. He’s a really giving and lovely person, but politics? Anything that implies your word is law and that no one dares question it is unacceptable to me. People even argued with Baba Awolowo.
