The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Abdullaziz Mohammed, for defiling a five-year-old minor in the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Suleiman Nguroje, stated in a statement on Wednesday that the commitment to fighting sexual and gender-based violence across the state is the top priority of the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has again apprehended a 35-year-old man, Abdullaziz Mohammed, for allegedly defiling a five-year-old minor in Mubi North Local Government Area.

“The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, at the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters that on March 17, 2025, the suspect lured his daughter into his grinding engine shop located at Kasuwan Borkono, Mubi North, and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her, knowing full well that she is a minor.”

According to the statement, the CP deployed operatives attached to the Mubi Division for immediate action.

“The victim was immediately rushed to the medical facility in Mubi for medical examination and treatment.”

He said during interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, pointing out that the suspect is in custody for a detailed investigation.

The state police boss strongly condemned the act and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yola, for a thorough and diligent investigation to ensure that justice was served.

“The Adamawa State Police Command remains committed in its fight against all forms of sexual abuse and gender-based violence,” he said.

The command further urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards and report individuals with questionable character to the police.
