The much awaited 2025 Women’s AfroBasket Championship has positioned Nigeria’s D’Tigress, the current African champions, in Group D.
Mozambique and Rwanda are also in the same group as D’Tigress for the competition, which will begin in Côte d’Ivoire August 26–3.
The Nigerian women’s basketball team, led by head coach Rena Wakama, is keen to take back the trophy and win the tournament for an unprecedented seventh time.

The team is expected to capitalize on their previous triumphs after D’Tigress’s impressive performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, when they reached the quarter-finals and displayed their talent.
They will need their expertise and tenacity to further establish their supremacy in African women’s basketball at the forthcoming AfroBasket Championship.

It should be noted that the D’Tigress are the competition’s most dominant squad. As the victors of the previous four tournaments, they will be winning the AfroBasket Championship for the fifth consecutive time and the seventh time overall if they win this year.

The host country, Côte d’Ivoire, will compete against the well-known teams Angola and Egypt in Group A of this year’s tournament. Group B, on the other hand, is made up of South Sudan, Cameroon, and Mali. Guinea, Senegal, and Uganda will face off in Group C.
