Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has no moral authority to criticize former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Senator Adams Oshiomhole of Edo North.
Since Okowa has only defected once, Oshiomhole claims that Atiku, a serial defector, is unable to interrogate him.

According to reports, the former governor of Edo State made the submission on Wednesday while addressing the 28th Independent Television and Radio Founders’ Day Lecture, which had as its theme “Nigeria, where are we going?”
Oshiomhole recalled that Atiku lost an election after defecting from the party that had given him the platform to another party, where he was given the presidential ticket.

He continued by saying that since the Supreme Court ruled that his actions were perfectly acceptable, the PDP leader has no moral authority to reprimand them because switching parties is his specialty.

As Governor Oborevwori and Dr. Okowa joined the APC, I heard others attempt to assess the significance of Edo and Delta’s reunion.

“And those speaking, such as Atiku, who made it clear to us through his actions that a sitting vice president can leave and serve as vice president of an opposition party and still hold the position, and the Supreme Court has made a ruling on that.”

I was the NLC president at the time, so I was the unofficial opposition. In Lagos, he then moved to Bourdillon to join Action Congress, a different party, where he ran for president but lost.

The same individual who is more vocal in his criticism of Okowa once again defected to the PDP, ran for office, and lost; he then went back to the APC and ran against former President Muhammadu Buhari, but lost. He rejoined the PDP once more and ran unsuccessfully against President Bola Tinubu, he added.

The fact that Atiku was criticizing a man who had only switched political parties once, he remarked, astonished him.
