Northern comments against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection have been characterized by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) as self-serving people who are angry at the current administration’s lack of acknowledgement and support.
Yerima Shettima, the president of the AYCF, specifically denounced Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, stating that his actions were caused by his inability to obtain a ministerial position in Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking to Vanguard, Yerima advised Nigerians to disregard individuals like as El-Rufai, pointing out that after serving as governor for eight years, he had no accomplishments to show for his efforts.
Since El-Rufai is unable to speak for the north, people like him should be disregarded. Yerima said, “He should have the courage to demonstrate what he has done for the people during his eight years as governor of Kaduna State.

He maintained that personal dissatisfaction, not sincere care for the north, was the driving force for El-Rufai’s recent public posturing.
“It is obvious that the individual is upset that Tinubu did not name him a minister. He ought to put it behind him and move on. Yerima went on, “He shouldn’t give the false impression that he represents the north or can decide its direction in 2027.”
The AYCF leader urged detractors to wait for Tinubu to finish his first term in office before making any judgments about his performance, stressing that it is too soon to do so after less than two years in government.
“We anticipated that Tinubu’s term would be difficult from the start. He inherited problems that would take more than a year to resolve. “Let’s avoid inflaming the political situation simply because some individuals have not been granted their desired positions,” he stated.
