Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a prominent lecturer at Kogi State University in Anyigba, has been officially declared dead after passing out in a hotel room while having sex with a female student, age 22.
According to information obtained, the event occurred on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and the Anyigba Police Division was notified the next day.
Gloria Samuel, a 200-level Social Studies Education student, was said to have checked into a hotel with the lecturer, who was a professor at the university’s Faculty of Education.
After allegedly consuming multiple energy drinks, he reportedly passed out as they were together in the room.
The student hurried to the reception for assistance after the incident, and the hotel manager sounded an alert.
Following prompt notification, the police showed up at the hotel to take the lecturer to a hospital, where an on-duty physician subsequently declared him dead.

The matter has been transferred to the Kogi State Police Command.
After being taken into custody, the student was sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department to be questioned further.
Although the results have not been made public, police reported that an autopsy had been conducted.
For additional investigation and prosecution, the girl in question has been moved from the Anyigba Police Division to the State CID. An autopsy has been performed, but as of right now, I haven’t spoken with the SCID, so I’m not sure if the results are out,” said SP William Ovye Aya, the spokesperson for the Command, as reported by Sahara Reporters.
Married and with kids, Dr. Ibikunle was notoriously tough on campus.
