The head coach of the Copper Queens of Zambia, Nora Häuptle, has publicly acknowledged that her side was beat by the Nigerian Super Falcons.
On Friday night, July 18, the Super Falcons defeated the Zambian women’s team 5-0 in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarterfinal, according to reports.
The Swiss strategist acknowledged that the two teams’ talent differences were significant in his remarks following the defeat at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium.
A glaring defeat for us. Nigeria deserves congratulations for the well-earned win. Nigeria was superior than us, and I believe we must acknowledge that today,” Häuptle said.
Despite having a great group-stage performance and a lot of pre-match excitement, the Zambian team entered the match with confidence but failed to score a single goal.

Osinachi Ohale, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiwendu Ihezuo scored three goals in the first half alone, while Tosin Demehin and Folashade Ijamilusi added two more goals after the interval, demonstrating the Super Falcons’ brutality.
As Zambia’s coach admitted defeat, Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu took the opportunity to consider his team’s development and the effort that had gone into winning.
It’s a work in progress, as we already stated, Madugu added. We concentrated on our areas of weakness, which included finishing, final passes, and service delivery. We saw the findings today.
Remember that the Super Falcons appeared far from dominant prior to the quarterfinal matchup, scoring only four goals in the group stage. However, Friday night’s performance seemed to be the result of a carefully thought-out improvement.
Taking place tonight, July 19, at 8 p.m., the Super Falcons will play the winner of the South Africa vs. Senegal encounter in the semi-final stage.
