Tinubu’s Spokesperson Addresses President’s Health Concerns

In the midst of fresh criticism over his early endorsements for the 2027 elections and frequent medical trips abroad, Daniel Bwala, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media, asserted that the Nigerian leader is “physically fitter than most presidents in advanced countries.”
In an interview with DW Africa, Bwala reportedly made the claim and defended the flood of endorsements that followed Tinubu’s midterm in office, calling it an internal All Progressives Congress (APC) tradition.
Bwala responded, “The president of Nigeria is actually physically fitter than most presidents in the developed countries,” in response to questions about Tinubu’s health and his medical trips.

Early support for Tinubu’s second term, he clarified, was not a planned political ploy but rather a component of the APC’s midterm procedural review.

“We have a procedure or a process within our party that involves a mid-term assessment,” Bwala stated.

Thus, it has nothing to do with President Bola Tinubu. We shall evaluate and determine whether the president, whoever is in office at the moment, has performed well enough that we would trust them to continue after each midterm.

Bwala claims that Tinubu completed the evaluation “with distinction.”

We have measured that he has done a tremendous job, he said. We therefore have complete faith in our people’s support in the run-up to 2027.

Bwala highlighted the Tinubu administration’s major accomplishments and emphasized local government autonomy as a crucial step toward strengthening democratic governance.

He stated that the development of local government autonomy is one way to strengthen democracy. independence that provides chairman or administrators of local governments with a wealth of resources.

He clarified that this independence has allowed states to hire vigilantes and acquire tools for monitoring, obtaining intelligence, and assisting law enforcement.

Under Tinubu’s direction, Bwala also emphasized advancements in agriculture and healthcare.

“We also offered dispensaries, such as free caesarean sections for mothers experiencing difficulties during childbirth,” he said.

The administration’s rice policy, he continued, has made food more accessible, particularly for those with modest incomes.

Furthermore, he stated, “We have a rice policy that has made rice accessible to Nigerians at all levels. Additionally, local governments provide subsidies for some prescription medications, which people can obtain.

Since the administration began, he claims that about 10 million Nigerians have been enrolled in the country’s healthcare system.
