Gunmen Attack Residence of Former Ogun LG Chairman

On Thursday morning, an armed group broke into the home of Alhaji Emilola Gazal, the former chairman of the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, and took his car, belongings, and money.

In a phone contact with our correspondent, Gazal, who also publishes The Roots Magazine, verified the occurrence.

Around two in the morning, the three armed men broke into my home in Ijebu-Ode GRA. After taking all of the money from me, they made me open my phone’s banking apps and move it all to an account they gave me. Only N5,000 was left in my account.

They also stole my ash-colored automobile and my wife’s valuables.
In fact, they informed me that they would be taking my automobile with them. Gazal told our correspondent, “I’m just going to report the incident to the police at Igbeba and Obalende, Ijebu-Ode.”
According to reports, this incidence coincides with a wave of violent home invasions and robberies that have been reported around Ogun State, especially in the Ijebu area.
For instance, in a gunfight along the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway earlier this year, the Ogun State Police Command killed a suspected armed robber.

On September 12, 2025, the command also detained a suspect who was connected to an armed robbery and burglary in Ayetoro that resulted in the theft of commodities valued at around N1.5 million.

In the meantime, Amotekun Corps, the regional security network, has neutralized suspects in Ogun’s border zones by engaging criminal groups in shootouts in the past.

Details will be provided later.
