Supercomputer Predicts Potential Winners of AFCON 2025 Final

As the competition moves into the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosts Morocco are predicted by betting analytics company PolyMarket to win the trophy.

Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, and the hosts, Morocco, are the only four nations still vying for continental supremacy.

Senegal will play Egypt in the semi-finals later tonight at 6 p.m., with a spot in the final up for grabs. Nigeria will then play the Atlas Lions.

Morocco has a 37% chance of winning the championship at home, according to PolyMarket’s Supercomputer estimates, making them the favorites.

Nigeria has a 25% chance of winning a fourth AFCON championship, while Senegal has a 28% chance. The most successful country in the competition’s history, Egypt, is ranked as an outsider at 13%.

The Nigerian camp is still incredibly confident despite the odds. Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has stated that the team will approach the semi-final match with the same confidence and zeal that have gotten them this far.

The Super Eagles have been praised for a series of dominant performances, making them one of the tournament’s most notable teams. Nigeria has won all five of their games under head coach Éric Chelle, and with 14 goals scored thus far, they have the strongest assault in the competition.

Iwobi told the media in Rabat on Tuesday, “We are going into the semi-final against the host Morocco with the same mentality we’ve had in previous games.”

“Having won our last five games, we hope to achieve the same results.”

The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat will host the much awaited semifinal. A spot in Sunday’s final is up for grabs, and kickoff is set at 9 p.m. Nigeria time.
