Kwara State’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted claims that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is funding it.
It is understood that the Kwara North Development Commission, a sociopolitical organization, leveled the accusation, accusing the governor of secretly supporting the ADC while holding the position of state head of the All Progressives Congress.
Prof. Isa Gana, a former Nigerian ambassador to Japan and head of the ADC in Kwara State, called the allegations “a blatant lie” in an interview with Punch on Tuesday.
Gana, a former deputy speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, claimed he had no idea the group making the accusations even existed.
He declared, “As a stakeholder in the Kwara North Senatorial District, I am not even aware of any Kwara North Development Commission making these accusations against our party.”
He questioned the claim’s logic, wondering how an APC governor in office could be supporting a rival party that aims to overthrow his party.
“How is Governor AbdulRazaq going to finance a party that wants to overthrow the APC, his own party?” Gana asked.
He insisted that in front of the 2027 general elections, the ADC was independently organizing around the state to provide Kwarans with an option.
“We are not a part of any arrangement with the state government, and the ADC is seriously working to offer Kwarans a credible alternative in 2027,” he continued.
Gana insisted that Governor AbdulRazaq was not sponsoring the ADC and urged the KNDC to stop making what he called baseless accusations.
