Prior to the 2027 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), is now in discussions with prominent opposition personalities.
A high-ranking source in Kwankwaso’s inner circle told Leadership that the former governor of Kano State has been interacting with important opposition figures in an attempt to create a cohesive political front against the ruling party.
The source claims that Kwankwaso has been in talks with leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender.
The engagements are part of larger consultations aimed at creating a strong opposition coalition, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
Kwankwaso is a politician. He is addressing every group. I am aware that he is conversing with Amaechi, Obi, and ADC personnel. According to the source, he is speaking with the PDP.
Kwankwaso is in communication with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition figures, the source continued, adding that talks are still going on.
He continued, “We are discussing with a view to bring all the opposition together.”
Along with other well-known Nigerians who are unhappy with the current government, the source further asserted that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is contributing to the growing opposition movement.
It’s not only Obasanjo. There is unanimity among Nigerian leaders for a change of government. Everyone thinks the current administration is failing, according to the source.
He clarified that because Obasanjo is prepared to speak candidly about national issues, his name is frequently brought up.
