2027: APC Legislative Aides Declare Support for Tinubu’s Second Term

On Wednesday, legislative assistants to the National Assembly who were selected on the All Progressives Congress platform formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign and promised to mobilize people across the country.

At the National Assembly Legislative Aides’ induction into the APC Support Groups Council in Abuja, Ayoola Fakunle, the group’s national coordinator, made the announcement.

In the midst of early political realignments and mobilization attempts by parties preparing for the general elections in 2027, the ruling APC is stepping up its grassroots involvement through support networks and allied groups.

Speaking at the gathering, Fakunle claimed that legislative assistants are strategically important for voter mobilization because they constitute a broad political framework that spans the federal, state, and local levels.
At the State and National assemblies as well as the local level, we have legislative assistants. There are legislative assistants everywhere you look. All of the polling places have equal representation.

We are therefore using their PVC to mobilize people. You need to present your PVC and evidence of APC membership before you may join. Making sure we back the reelection of President Bola Tinubu, a former senator, and our principles is the goal. President Tinubu has two caps on.

We will support our principals in their respective states, local administrations, and state assemblies, and we are working tirelessly to obtain those four years for him. Right now, our members may be found anywhere. Thus, we don’t harbor any fears,” she declared.
Although Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, has not yet made a public announcement about his plans for 2027, party support organizations have continued to mobilize in anticipation of his potential reelection.

During his remarks, Sadiq Jikta, the Director General of the APC Support Groups Council, characterized the legislative aides’ entrance as a tactical boost to the ruling party’s mobilization effort.

Since the APC needs additional members and organizations like these, today’s inauguration of legislative aides is a benefit. It suggests we are succeeding and acting morally. We get groups every day, just like you see governors defecting to the APC. Thus, it demonstrates that the APC is intent on winning before 2027.
