Scores Narrowly Escape Death, Several Injured as Thugs Disrupt APC Stakeholders Meeting

At the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Tuesday, a group of political thugs broke into a stakeholders’ meeting.

The event happened as the ruling party’s internal conflicts were reportedly exacerbated by the impending ward, local government, and state congresses to elect new executives.

According to information obtained, the attack caused multiple members to sustain injuries and compelled party officials to escape for their lives.

According to reports, the attackers chased members indiscriminately, disrupting the gathering and causing panic on the property.

When the violence started, the party leaders, officials, and delegates were gathered to talk about internal issues, according to witnesses who talked to The Nation.

But as discussions were going on, the attackers entered the party’s secretariat with machetes, shattered bottles, boards, stones, and other deadly items.

Members had already taken up residence when the attackers struck, according to a party official who spoke on condition of the aforementioned publication.

They came with firearms and began threatening everyone, so we had to flee for our lives,” he claimed. While attempting to flee, some of us were hurt. To avoid damaging their cars, those who drove to the event quickly fled.

Steve Otaloro, the APC’s Director of Media and Publicity in Ondo State, acknowledged the occurrence in the meantime and stated that more information would be released later.
