NASS Was Pragmatic and Realistic in Passing Electoral Act’ – APC Spokesman Morka

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the Senate and the House of Representatives passed the Electoral Amendment Act in a practical and realistic manner.

The Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu just twenty-four hours after the National Assembly passed it.

However, the Act’s quick signing has spurred national discussion from a number of sectors, with many criticizing Tinubu for the pace.

In response to the event, however, Morka defended NASS in an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief,” claiming that their choice was motivated by the difficulties the nation’s communication technology presented.

“Taking into account the state of communication technology in our country, the Senate and the House of Representatives were being very pragmatic and realistic in passing the Electoral Act,” he stated.

In our National Assembly, there are other parties than the All Progressives Congress, or APC. That’s where we have other parties.

Therefore, the results of the discussions and legislation that pass the National Assembly must be viewed as the result of the entire legislature’s joint effort and will.

We as a people need to be realistic. As a people, we can strive for the best conditions and the highest values.

However, when we consider our nation, I believe that I am speaking to you from Asaba, Delta State, and I really traveled through three networks before I was able to locate a reliable connection to be on this show.

It is unclear to me whether Nigerians believe that the amenities in Lagos and Abuja are the same as those in the rest of the country.

I also wish things were different. I hope that all of the connectivity problems have been resolved so that we can communicate election results electronically in real time.
