All Progressives Congress (APC) leader Joe Igbokwe has called the altercation between Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Michael Freeman and ARISE Television anchor Rufai Oseni “unacceptable” and “completely unprofessional.”
According to reports, Rufai was seen cutting off the Israeli ambassador who was trying to refute his assertion during a heated exchange on the Arise TV Morning show in a video that went viral.
Rufai stated in the Freeman interview that Israel cannot be blameless in the Middle East problem, citing what he called Israel’s atrocities in Gaza and other countries.
But as the diplomat tried to refute the assertion, Rufai cut him off.
“Hang on a minute, let me finish,” said Rufai. Ambassador, don’t interrupt me. Permit me to finish.
Social media users’ reactions to the development have been conflicting; some have criticized the journalist for the way he interacted with guests during the live television program.
Igbokwe responded to the news by writing on his Facebook page that Rufai is incredibly haughty and conceited.
The APC leader emphasizes that Rufai is not a qualified journalist and that he has urged the management of Arise Television to fire him.
“Rufai is incredibly haughty and conceited,” he wrote. I’ve requested that ARISE TV take him down.
“He lacks journalistic training. He has a terrible, inappropriate, and completely unprofessional disposition.
