Osun APC Crisis Deepens as Omisore Takes Party to Court Over Governorship Primaries

Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has brought the party before a Federal High Court regarding the way its governorship primaries were conducted in the state, escalating the turmoil plaguing the APC’s Osun State chapter.

Shortly before the primary election, Omisore was reportedly disqualified along with a few other candidates running for the APC governorship.

According to reports, the APC’s internal democratic process in Osun State was called into question after Omisore and other candidates were disqualified.

It was acknowledged that the development exacerbated divides inside the state chapter and caused friction among party stakeholders.

In the meantime, attempts are being made within the party to settle the disagreement and bring the disgruntled members back together.

According to information obtained by ThisDay, the APC’s elders’ caucus recently visited Omisore in his birthplace of Ile-Ife in an attempt to ease his tense feelings and convince him to make amends with other party officials.

The action was also intended to reintegrate the former senator into the state party leadership, which is headed by Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
