After an indigenous man named Mr. Ukaegbu Ogii was killed by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama, the Ndiolumbe autonomous community in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State, went into mourning.
The suspect, Okwudili Mbama, also known as Nkume, stabbed the late Ukaegbu Ogii in the neck after accusing him of having an extramarital affair with his wife, Mercy Mbama.
According to a local source, the suspect, who was from Umuota village in Ndiolumbe, quickly ran away to an unidentified location in order to avoid being apprehended.
The community source further stated that, despite community assistance, the suspect had caused the late Ukaegbu Ogii a head injury a few weeks prior due to the same problem.
The community was tense after learning about Ukaegbu Ogii’s passing.
The event was confirmed by the Abia State Police Command, which stated that the suspect’s wife, Mrs. Okwudili Mbama, reported it to the Omoba Police Divisional headquarters on April 5.
According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Abia State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, detectives from the Command visited the scene of the event and transported the victim to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death.
“His body has been placed in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation, and efforts are being made to apprehend the at-large suspect.”
DSP Chinaka stated, “Investigation is ongoing.”
